Paving and stonework on the Mornington Peninsula

Good paving does more than look neat on the day it is finished. It needs to drain, stay level and suit the way you use your garden. We lay natural stone terraces, circular feature paving, courtyards and stepping-stone paths for homeowners across the Mornington Peninsula.

Paving work we take on

Most paving projects start with a simple question: where do you want to walk, sit or entertain? From there we plan the layout, levels and material to suit the space.

  • Natural stone patios and courtyards outside living areas
  • Circular and compass-pattern feature paving
  • Stepping stones set in lawn or gravel
  • Pool surrounds and paved entertaining areas
  • Paths linking gates, side passages and garden beds

Why the base matters

Paving tends to fail from underneath. Settling, rocking pavers and puddles usually come back to poor preparation rather than the stone itself.

Peninsula soils vary a lot from sandy coastal ground to heavier clay further inland, so excavation depth, base material and compaction are worked out for each site. Falls are set so water runs away from the house and off the paved area.

Choosing a material

Stone, brick and concrete pavers each have a different look, feel underfoot and maintenance routine. Around pools, slip resistance and heat underfoot are worth thinking about. Near the coast, a material that copes with salt air and sun will age better.

We can talk through options on site and help you choose something that fits your home and budget.
